On October 13, the 174,000 cubic meter large LNG carrier “Green Energy Star”, built by Hudong-Zhonghua for CNOOC’s medium and long-term FOB resource supporting LNG carrier project, was signed and delivered. This is the third “Green Energy” series LNG carrier delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua, bringing the company’s total number of delivered LNG carriers to 53.
The delivery documents were jointly signed by Chada, Project Manager of the LNG Asia-Pacific Commercial and Asset Management Department of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Lu Xinwei, Deputy General Manager of the Third Ship and Ocean Business Department of China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., and Shen Ning, Marketing Director of the company.
As one of the first batch of fifth-generation series ships built by Hudong-Zhonghua, the construction team adhered to the purpose of green energy and emission reduction, achieving independent breakthroughs in a series of key technologies such as integrated energy-saving device technology and independent liquefied cargo systems. The construction team actively implemented the company’s lean management plan, continuously innovated construction methods, precisely integrated dock resources, optimized daily management, and effectively improved construction quality. Even when facing Typhoon No. 4 “Danas”, they still efficiently completed the “two-in-one” sea trial, achieving significant cost reduction effects and receiving praise from the shipowner.
This ship is a fifth-generation “Changheng” series LNG carrier independently designed, developed, and built by Hudong-Zhonghua. It has a total length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters, and a depth of 26.25 meters. It adopts the latest generation of twin-skeg line shape, is equipped with multiple low-carbon and digital technologies and equipment, and integrates the latest design concepts, optimal technical equipment, and strongest environmental performance. It is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the China Classification Society (CCS).
It is understood that CNOOC’s medium and long-term FOB (Free On Board) resource supporting project is the largest-scale LNG carrier construction project in China. A total of 12 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers will be built, implemented in two phases, with 6 ships built in each phase. Among them, the first ship of the first phase project, “Green Energy Ying”, and the second ship, “Green Energy Zhu”, have been delivered and put into operation 5 months and 8 months ahead of schedule, respectively. In May this year, the sixth ship of the second phase project officially started construction, marking the full launch of both the first and second phases of the project. The scale of simultaneous construction of CNOOC’s LNG carriers has reached a new high, taking a solid and powerful new step in the field of energy transportation.
The delivery of the “Green Energy Star” means that CNOOC’s “Green Energy” fleet has further expanded. It will form an important force for China’s independent LNG transportation together with the already delivered “Green Energy Ying” and “Green Energy Zhu”.
