The handling of solid bulk in public ports in Bahia during the 3rd quarter of 2025 recorded a 7.21% increase compared to the same period last year, that is, 883 thousand tons transported.
Adding together solid bulk, liquid bulk, containerized cargo, and general cargo, a total of 3.1 million tons (Mt) were transported through the ports of Salvador, Aratu-Candeias, and Ilhéus. The data released by the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) confirms the good performance of the management of the Federal Port Authority – Codeba which, from January to September of this year, has already recorded a net profit of over R$ 20 million.
The CEO of Codeba, Antonio Gobbo, assesses that this port efficiency is the result of investments that the federal government has been making in port modernization and the adoption of sustainable practices.
“CODEBA is a profitable company, distributing dividends to its shareholders and profit-sharing among its employees. To give an idea of our growth, in 2023, the net profit recorded was R$ 88 million. In 2024, we have already reached R$ 22.8 million.
Our projection for 2025 is to close the financial year with a profit above R$ 31 million,” details Gobbo, commenting that “all investments made in 2024 and 2025, in amounts exceeding R$ 200 million, will be executed exclusively with the company’s own resources.”
Codeba is responsible for managing the ports of Salvador, Aratu-Candeias, and Ilhéus, in Bahia, the project to reactivate the new São Francisco River Waterway, and, given its good performance and expertise, this October, it took over the management of the Port of Itajaí, in Santa Catarina.
