Construction has begun on a modern intermodal terminal at the Port of Gdynia’s logistics center, costing 75 million zlotys (approximately $20 million), with $35 million financed by the European Union. The project includes the construction of 2.73 kilometers of railway tracks, 30,000 square meters of shunting yards, and a permanent cargo handling ramp.
The new facility will have a dual purpose, handling both commercial cargo and military equipment. According to Piotr Gorzenski, President of the Management Board of Morski Port Gdynia SA, the terminal’s construction is an investment not only in logistics development but also in strengthening the security of the country and NATO’s entire eastern flank.
The project will improve the efficiency of container handling between sea, rail, and road transport and strengthen Poland’s strategic infrastructure. Completion is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
