Container ship changes rotation in Maersk service due to adverse weather in Australian waters

Must read

Maersk reported that the container ship Westport, which is deployed in the Greater Australia Connect service with voyage 538N, had to modify the scheduled port rotation, due to adverse weather conditions on the route from Adelaide to Fremantle which forced it to take shelter. The situation caused a delay in vessel departures.

According to the communication from the shipping line, the ship will omit the next scheduled call to Sydney. Consequently, the company adopted a contingency route for the affected cargo to mitigate further delays.

Cargo scheduled for shipment from Brisbane via Sydney will be incorporated onto the ship CMA CGM Baikal of the Eastern Australia Connect route in Brisbane to connect with the ship ONE Cosmos.

Meanwhile, the cargo planned for the container ship Westport destined for Sydney, will be taken by the Southern Star service with the ship Maersk Rio Negro on voyage 544S. The cargo planned for loading from Sydney on the Westport will be loaded onto the ONE Cosmos on voyage 546N.
