On May 9, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers’ vessel “Da Yu Xia” loaded the first batch of core equipment for the 2×450 MW gas turbine project in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, at Zhangjiagang and set sail smoothly.

This project is Cambodia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant, with a total installed capacity of 900 MW. Once completed, its annual power generation will account for one-quarter of Cambodia’s total electricity output, significantly enhancing power supply stability and promoting the local energy transition to low-carbon sources.

The first batch of core components shipped totals over 8,000 cubic meters, including 12 large pieces of equipment. Among them, two main transformers each weigh 305 tons, imposing extremely high requirements on vessel suitability, lifting operations, and transport safety.

To this end, the COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers team developed a comprehensive technical plan in advance and coordinated various resources to ensure the smooth completion of the loading operation.

At the same time, this project is the first to be implemented following the strategic cooperation framework agreement signed between China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) and COSCO Shipping Group in January this year.

According to the agreement, both parties will fully leverage their respective advantageous resources to deepen cooperation in shipping, logistics, digital ship and marine engineering equipment construction, new energy, and overseas markets, achieving mutual development and win-win outcomes.
