Complejo Portuario Mejillones (CPM) presented the progress and relevance of its Plataforma Logística Mejillones (PLM) project during its participation in the Exponor 2026 mining fair. On the occasion, the company shared its vision on the future logistical, port and industrial development of the Region of Antofagasta and the bay of Mejillones.
Within the framework of the event, the initiative generated various conversations with companies, authorities and industry players who visited the CPM stand to learn about its scope and the contribution it can make to strengthening regional logistical infrastructure.
“Our participation in Exponor 2026 helped us share the relevance of the commune of Mejillones, the Complejo Portuario Mejillones and the projects we are promoting to contribute to the logistical and economic development of the region. The interest aroused by the Plataforma Logística Mejillones shows that there is a concrete opportunity to strengthen the infrastructure and services that mining, energy, the bioceanic corridor and other productive activities will require in the coming years,” said Juan Alberto Ruiz, general manager of CPM.
The PLM plans to develop a 47-hectare logistical park for the industry to set up, develop its projects and provide services to transport, cargo, storage, warehousing and specialized projects. According to CPM, its location in the industrial sector of Mejillones, connectivity with the main routes and the train, as well as the proximity to the port terminals of the bay were some of the attributes that aroused the greatest interest among attendees.
Along with the Plataforma Logística Mejillones, the company presented at Exponor its service of renting tippable containers for the industry, especially for the mining sector. CPM was a pioneer in introducing this technology in Chile in 2014 and today has the largest fleet of this type of equipment in the country, which allows improving the efficiency and sustainability of the loading and unloading processes of concentrated minerals.
The executive added that Exponor allowed exchanging views with companies, authorities and representatives from different sectors on the opportunities facing the Region of Antofagasta and the role that Mejillones can play in taking advantage of the projected growth of key industries for the country.
“The reception that both the Plataforma Logística Mejillones and our services for the industry had confirms the importance of continuing to develop solutions that provide competitiveness, efficiency and new capabilities for the growth of the region,” concluded Ruiz.
