The Ambition, from Ambassador Cruise Line, entered dry dock for a major refit at APCL A&P Falmouth. The docking will last until December 1, marking the first time the Cornish shipyard and the cruise line have partnered on this ship, which was sealed following a tender process.

“We are delighted to be collaborating for the first time with A&P Falmouth on the Ambition dry dock project. This multi-million pound investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering quality at affordable prices, while also ensuring that the Ambassador fleet operates to the highest technical, environmental, and customer service standards,” stated Nick Hughes, Operations Director of Ambassador Cruise Line.

“We are pleased that a British shipyard has won our competitive selection process and to be able to support the local industry and the regional economy,” added Hughes.

Ambassador clarified that Falmouth was chosen for its compelling proposal, which included a shorter voyage from Liverpool, where the vessel concluded its last journey. This allows for more days in dry dock and reduces fuel consumption.

“APCL A&P Falmouth is pleased to welcome the Ambition to its facilities in Falmouth for its refit. APCL is very familiar with the Ambition and its crew, as both it and its passengers are regular visitors to the Falmouth International Cruise Terminal. We are pleased to now welcome the Ambition to our ship repair facilities, where it will benefit from our expertise in this field,” explained Mike Spicer, Managing Director of APCL A&P Falmouth.

The technical scope of the work program will include mechanical overhauls, essential steel repairs, a full hull repaint, and maintenance of the stabilization and propulsion systems. A spa treatment room will be converted into a new, fully equipped renal dialysis treatment center, which will allow guests requiring hemodialysis to continue receiving treatment during the voyage, under the supervision of a specialized medical team.

Regarding interior enhancements, the Ambition will receive a series of renovations to its furniture, finishes, and fabrics in the hotel areas, restaurants, cabins, and entertainment zones. Furthermore, the crew accommodations are also being upgraded.

Following its maintenance period, the ship will return to service with a three-night Christmas Markets of Bruges and Amsterdam cruise on December 2.

Meanwhile, the Ambience ship will enter dry dock at A&P Tyne, in Newcastle, starting January 7, 2026.
