Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with the Greek shipping company Aegean Tugs Shipping Company for the acquisition of an ASD Tug 2811 tugboat. Thanks to its fleet construction program, Damen can offer its client a fast delivery.

The standard ASD Tug 2811 tugboat, with a length of 28.57 meters, a beam of 11.43 meters and a bollard pull of 60 tons, is compact and powerful. It is designed to combine its maneuverability with high levels of efficiency.

Michael Psarompas, owner and chief executive officer of Argo SA, parent company of Aegean Tugs Shipping Company, stated that “the ASD 2811 tugboat is known in the market for its power, its compliance with environmental standards and its exceptional maneuverability. This state-of-the-art tugboat will help significantly improve our towing and maritime assistance capabilities.”

“We look forward to this powerful vessel joining our fleet and serving in the Greek and Mediterranean seas safely and efficiently,” the executive added.

With the construction of the vessel already underway and nearing completion, Damen will deliver the ASD Tug 2811 in the first quarter of next year. The operation will take place in Kalymnos, in the Dodecanese region, Greece, home port of Aegean Tugs Shipping Company.

Before that, Damen will adapt the tugboat’s proven design to meet its client’s requirements. This will include the installation of the FiFi 1 fire-fighting equipment and a towing winch, as well as other modifications required by the Greek State.
