De Wit Bunkering says it has obtained ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) under the RED III European directive for renewable energy.
According to the Dutch marine fuel supplier, the certification demonstrates that its supply chain is traceable, with a verified origin, correct mass balance, and transparent emissions reporting. The company claims this proves that bunkering operations can be sustainable and responsible.
The ISCC certification is said to have required research, audits, and process improvements. And De Wit’s sister business, Belgian Trading and Bunkering, has held the certification for two years.
“Together, we are raising the bar for sustainable fuel supplies to inland and maritime shipping, in Antwerp and the wider FARAG sailing area,” De Wit said.
The bunker seller added that it continues to invest in solutions to help customers meet current and future standards while maintaining quality, safety, and reliability in deliveries.
The RED III directive is the European Union’s framework for promoting the use of renewable energy across member states, requiring companies in the fuel supply chain to demonstrate their sustainability credentials through certified schemes, such as ISCC.
The certification encompasses the entire supply chain, from feedstock production to final delivery, ensuring traceability and compliance with sustainability criteria outlined in European legislation.
