The agreement provides for the construction of two feeder ships and two additional optional units. The ships will have a cargo capacity of 1,930 TEU each
Ateme – An important strategic move in the international shipping landscape: the Greek shipowner Alberta Shipmanagement has signed a contract for the construction of container ships, marking its debut in this market segment. The company, historically focused on managing tankers and bulk carriers, thus significantly diversifies its fleet. According to major specialized news outlets, the company led by Nicholas Inglessis has formalized the order with the Chinese shipyard CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding. The agreement provides for the construction of two feeder ships and two additional optional units. The ships will have a cargo capacity of 1,930 TEU each and the delivery of the first two units is currently scheduled for 2028. This entry into the small-medium sized container ship sector comes at a time of strong demand and intense newbuilding activity in the feeder segment, representing a strategy of expansion and diversification for the company, founded in 2019.
