DP World Antwerp completed a USD 266 million expansion, which allowed it to increase its capacity by 30% and consolidate itself as one of the main integrated logistics hubs in Europe.
Since its opening in 2005, Antwerp Gateway went from handling 70,000 TEU to more than 2.4 million TEU this 2025.
This USD 266 million investment aims at new infrastructure, yard space expansion, and digital systems designed to increase capacity, reduce emissions, and strengthen barge and rail links.
Meanwhile, in 2026, the last four automated stacking cranes from a fleet of 27 are expected to enter service, while DP World aims to put its Zodiac operating system into operation in 2028, to further enhance planning, visibility, and efficiency.
Rashid Abdulla, CEO and Managing Director of DP World Europe, stated that “for two decades, Antwerp Gateway has embodied our mission to drive trade. This investment reinforces our long-term commitment to Europe, our customers, and the communities we serve.”
“From maximizing existing space through modern technology to promoting night logistics and intermodal transport, Antwerp Gateway continues to push boundaries. Our focus on safety, digital innovation, and renewable energy ensures that the terminal remains a European leader for the coming decades,” said Edi Cioran, chief executive officer of DP World Antwerp Gateway.
