The automated MoorMaster system allowed DP World in San Antonio to maintain its operational continuity, despite adverse weather conditions, becoming the only terminal able to operate in ports closed by the authority.
The facility is working safely with the Eurosal service, handling a vessel of 333 meters in length and transferring 4,700 movements.
“DP World in San Antonio is the only port terminal in Chile to have the modern MoorMaster system, which allows greater safety for workers and maintains operational continuity,” stated the concessionaire.
MoorMaster NxG is a fully automated ship mooring system that was inaugurated at DP World in San Antonio during the first half of 2024. The implementation of this innovation involved an investment of $7,000 million, while its start-up required testing with support from American and New Zealand experts.
The tool, developed by Cavotec, consists of hydraulic arms that hold the vessel using vacuum technology to maintain maximum stability, ensuring a quick and safe connection to the ship. It also reduces the risk of mooring line breakage, providing greater protection for port workers and crews.
