DP World has announced plans to develop a new cold storage facility in Egypt with an investment of USD 29 million, equivalent to approximately EGP 1.42 billion, Government of Dubai said in a statement.
The project will be located in Elsewedy Industrial Development Park within Al Oula Industrial City. It comes amid increasing domestic and international demand for energy-efficient cold storage infrastructure, particularly in agricultural exports and frozen food manufacturing.
The 16,194-square-meter facility will include eight independently controlled chambers with capacity for 25,000 pallet positions across chilled and frozen categories such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and frozen foods.
The design includes an advanced refrigeration system to ensure energy efficiency and precise climate control in line with international standards.
According to Mohammad Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt and Executive Vice President for North Africa, “This facility represents a significant milestone in our journey to help strengthen Egypt’s logistics and trade ecosystem. By introducing world-class cold chain capabilities, we are enabling exporters and manufacturers to expand their reach, improve efficiency, and capture new opportunities. Together with our Sokhna Logistics Park, which is expected to be operational soon, we are creating an integrated network that will unlock growth and reinforce Egypt’s position as a vital hub for global trade.”
The new site, owned and operated by DP World, will feature a fully integrated Warehouse Management System that offers real-time inventory visibility and connectivity with client platforms. Its strategic location provides direct access to Greater Cairo, national highways, and key export routes, allowing it to support both domestic distribution and international shipping.
The project is expected to enhance Egypt’s cold chain infrastructure, reduce food waste, improve supply chain efficiency, and help local exporters and manufacturers strengthen their competitiveness in global markets.
The development builds on DP World’s previous investments in the Port of Ain Sokhna, the Sokhna Logistics Park, and third-party logistics operations in Egypt.
