Shri Sanjay Mehta, IFS, Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, has been felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, ShriBhupendra Patel as “DYNAMIC BUREAUCRAT” during the award function “GUJARATNU GAURAV” “ગુજરાતનુંગૌરવ-2022” (Pride of Gujarat) which has been organised on the theme of celebration ‘GUJARAT DAY‘, falling on 1st May at
Ahmedabad.
He was honoured for this Award for his /role in the overall development of Deendayal Port.
Under the able guidance of Mr. Mehta, the cargo handling of the port continued unabated and ensured that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the country, even during the difficult times of Corona.
He set-up oxygen plants at three different locations during Covid pandemic.
In a major contribution to the Green India Revolution initiative, during Mr. Mehta’s tenure, a Man Made Forest was developed by planting more than 1 lakh 10 thousand trees and gifting it to the Society, which is today known as ‘Gandhidham’s Rotary Forest‘.
During 2021-22, Deendayal Port has handled 127 million metric tons of cargo and retained its No.1 rank amongst all the Major Ports of India and also achieved many milestones throughout the year.
