The Port of Manta (Ecuador) received the inaugural call of the Ro-Ro vessel MV Glovis Lander. The ship arrived from the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas (Mexico) at international dock 2 of the Ecuadorian maritime station to unload 2,797 vehicles.
On the Port of Manta’s social media channels, details of the aforementioned vessel were provided, stating that “with 230 meters in length and flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, this vehicle carrier, operated by Hyundai Glovis and incorporated into its fleet in June 2026, is part of the new generation of car carriers designed to respond to the growth of the automotive trade.”
“The vessel uses a dual-fuel propulsion system that uses liquefied natural gas and conventional fuel, allowing it to reduce carbon emissions, making it a benchmark for sustainability within the maritime industry,” it was added.
In this regard, Samuel Franco, Executive Vice President of the Port Terminal of Manta, stated that “receiving a vessel of these characteristics demonstrates that the investments made in infrastructure and the experience of our team allow us to respond to the needs of an industry that is constantly evolving. We are proud to continue generating opportunities so that new and larger operations can find in our port a strategic and efficient ally.”
Finally, it was reported that “the arrival of vessels of this magnitude reaffirms the port’s capacity to handle increasingly specialized operations and consolidates us as one of the main hubs for automotive logistics in the Pacific.”
