Shanghái Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) completed the delivery of 24 units of port equipment to the RSCT terminal at the Port of Sokhna in Egypt.

The equipment supports the development of the country’s first fully automated terminal and represents an important milestone in port infrastructure cooperation between China and Egypt.

The shipment comprises six quay cranes and 18 fully automated RTG cranes, which offer advanced and high-performance automation features.

The quay cranes are equipped with anti-sway and anti-twist technologies to ensure stable spreader operation under various conditions. They also incorporate a container truck positioning system and a ship profiling system, which significantly improves truck alignment accuracy and overall operational safety.

The RTGs come with a spreader monitoring system and an object detection system. Integrated with an advanced automation platform, these machines greatly enhance automated performance and operational reliability. Furthermore, the RTGs employ a hybrid power solution that combines conductor rails with lithium batteries, enabling environmentally responsible and emission-free operation.

The RSCT project, led by Hutchison Ports, is Egypt’s first terminal to implement fully automated technology, features a 2,600-meter-long quay and spans 1.6 million square meters. Once completed, it will become Egypt’s largest container terminal, with a designed annual handling capacity of 3.5 million TEU and the ability to accommodate ultra-large vessels up to 400 meters long.
