The Joint Committee on Hygiene and Safety (CPHS) of the Empresa Portuaria Austral (EPAustral) received recognition from the Instituto de Seguridad del Trabajo (IST) in the Management category for its work in the prevention of accidents and occupational illnesses.
In line with this and backed by the annual work carried out by the company’s risk prevention area, EPAustral reached 300 consecutive days without recorded work accidents in 2025, approaching seven years without incidents.
The general manager of the state-owned company, Miguel Palma, stated that “being one of the regional companies highlighted in the ceremony, this achievement is a reflection of the commitment, dedication, and collaborative work that they have sustained over time to promote safer, healthier, and more sustainable work environments, and it gives us a tremendous foundation for the challenges we will face as EPAustral.”
The executive, who was present at the award ceremony, highlighted the Joint Committee “for its preventive management and for strongly projecting a culture of safety that benefits our entire organization and that reflects the commitment of all the company’s and the port’s workers. It fills us with pride and motivates us to continue strengthening the joint work between teams, professionals, and workers, because we know that prevention is a shared task where people are the center.”
The regional manager of the IST, Pamela Muñoz, stated that “presenting this recognition is an honor. We feel that it is a human group that holds the care for life in its heart, that is led with good guidelines and supported by a prevention team headed by Carolina Suárez.”
“Everyone, together with the work of the IST, has allowed the Empresa Portuaria Austral to stand out during these years for the commitment to reach all those people who use the facilities with messages, training, health operations, and everything that means putting life at the center. We are happy to recognize this Joint Committee that inspires others,” commented Muñoz.
