Despite foreign protests, and an imminent ban on the way in the Lagting, yet another Russian trawler is about to be repaired in the Faroe Islands.
This concerns the Russian trawler Ostankino, which is owned by Murman Seafood. The trawler is currently docked near Klaksvík and is expected to get a shipyard berth on Thursday.
The repair is happening despite the EU and Norway having closed their ports to ships belonging to Murman Seafood, as they are suspected of spying for the Russian authorities.
The Faroese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Industry, Sigrid Stenberg, has put forward a bill that prohibits the maintenance of Russian ships in the Faroe Islands. The bill will be considered by the Lagting on August 28th.
