The Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao is giving a boost to the recovery of the As Pías gas station. The body chaired by José Antonio Álvarez has just put out to tender the works to carry out the soil remodeling project. The base budget is slightly less than 200,000 euros and the execution period will be 15 months. The objective is to eliminate hydrocarbon residues, and for this purpose a system called ‘Pump&Treat’ will be applied. This is based on the pumping of groundwater, favoring the mobilization and recovery of hydrocarbons that may have remained residually.
Once the actions are carried out, their effectiveness will be verified. Monitoring will be carried out during the active phase of the action, with weekly reviews during the first month and biweekly thereafter to verify the correct operation of the facilities. With this action, the Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao gives the necessary impetus to the processing of the concession requested by Carbugal over 7,200 square meters of public domain for the recovery of the As Pías gas station and the enhancement of the surrounding area.
