A Singapore-registered passenger ferry, Horizon 9, collided with the La Digue, a Marshall Islands-registered product tanker controlled by Scandinavian shipping company, Norden, off Singapore’s Southern Islands late on Monday afternoon.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the incident occurred at around 5pm on November 10, while the ferry was en route to HarbourFront Centre. The Horizon 9 sustained minor damage to its bow above the waterline but remained fully operational and continued safely back to port.

The La Digue reported no damage following the collision. There were no injuries among passengers or crew on either vessel, and no pollution was detected. Port operations and navigational traffic were not affected.

In a statement, the MPA said it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Maritime analysts noted that Singapore’s busy shipping lanes saw high levels of vessel activity, and while collisions were rare, the authority regularly reviewed procedures to enhance navigational safety.
