The Western Mindanao Naval Command (Wmnc) achieved the seizure of smuggled cigarette packages at the Port of Zamboanga (Philippines). The confiscation was valued at USD 1,521,149 million.

According to reports, the packages were intercepted by Naval Force-61 during inspection operations in the Sulu Sea, adding that “the vessel M/B Aslinda, captained by one Hajil, was transporting 305 master cases of foreign-brand cigarettes without documentation.”

Through a statement, the Wmnc indicated that “the vessel’s crew did not present the required documentation for the cargo and the vessel, which led to the detention of the vessel and its crew.”

Subsequently, another 3 vessels were intercepted during the same day, totaling more than 600 cases of cigarettes seized.

The Wmnc reported that both the confiscated cargo and the crew members of the vessels were placed at the disposal of the Bureau of Customs of the Port of Zamboanga.
