Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding company, has signed a collaboration agreement with Idea Prototipi srl to ensure the rapid integration of multipurpose portable cobotic solutions into the Group’s supply chain. The two companies aim to strengthen automation, digitalization, and sustainability in their production activities, while also fostering the creation of a highly innovative industrial ecosystem.
This collaboration is a multi-year agreement between Fincantieri and Idea Prototipi, a Friuli-based company at the forefront of developing integrated hardware and software solutions in the field of industrial robots. They will be working towards accelerating the adoption of new technological solutions within Fincantieri’s production processes in Italy and abroad. The Group will be able to quickly integrate advanced solutions, adapting them to the specific needs of the shipbuilding sector, through a co-development process based on agility and flexibility.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, said the national manufacturing industry has the opportunity to use new production technologies to extend and project its leadership into the future. “Over the past three years, Fincantieri has invested in the robotization of shipbuilding processes with entrepreneurship and a pioneering spirit through a project we have called ‘shipyard innovation’. This agreement demonstrates that collaboration with the network of SMEs is the most effective way to accelerate the validation of new production technologies in the industrial shipbuilding sector, creating long-term value throughout the entire chain.”
Folgiero believes that Fincantieri can be a laboratory for the country on these issues. “It is the beginning of a long journey, but we are pleased with the encouraging results we are seeing every day in the field.”
Moreover, the shipbuilding company stated that the collaboration confirms Fincantieri’s role as an enabler of shipyard-ready technology and a driver of development for the entire national industrial ecosystem. “The Group leverages its solidity, scalability, and long-term vision to support and enhance smaller enterprises that are highly innovative and agile in execution.”
