Fincantieri, through its Underwater Technology Hub, will supply the Navy with a supply vessel, designed to ensure maximum versatility of use, including underwater operations.
“The vessel’s configuration and available spaces allow its use to be adapted to various operational functions, ensuring flexibility and rapid reconfiguration based on needs. The unit will undergo adaptation work at the group’s shipyard in Palermo, with the aim of transforming it into a technologically advanced platform fully integrated into the national capability system. The project is part of a path aimed at strengthening the Italian presence in the maritime domain, which is increasingly strategic, through modular and scalable solutions,” explained the shipbuilding company in a note.
“Fincantieri is progressing towards the role of an orchestrator of highly complex technologies, capable of operating from the surface to the seabed, from hardware to software. The initiative confirms the group’s intention to consolidate its role as a reference in naval innovation, developing technologies that combine flexibility, security, and interoperability, and strengthening the ability to respond quickly and in an integrated manner to the needs of the country-system, with an industrial vision oriented towards technological sovereignty and innovation.”
Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fincantieri, commented: “This project testifies to Fincantieri’s role as a technological enabler at the service of the Country-System, capable of combining operational speed, innovation, and industrial vision. Through versatile and reconfigurable solutions, particularly in the underwater domain, we continue to strengthen our ability to respond in an integrated and effective manner to the needs of the Navy, contributing to the development of a technological sovereignty that is increasingly strategic for Italy.”
