Shipping tycoon John Fredriksen keeps the pedal on stock purchasing and buys additional shares in US tanker company International Seaways, filings show.

Norwegian-Cypriot John Fredriksen has been busy this week. First, he bought more shares in Euronav and hit 12,01% in the Belgian tanker carrier, and the next day, he upped his shareholding in US tanker company International Seaways, filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) show.

Through his company Famatown Finance Ltd, Fredriksen acquired 131,308 shares on May 2, 2022, and another 100,000 shares on May 4, 2022, at a price of USD 20,742 and USD 21,714, respectively. The filings also state, however, that the prices listed are a weighted average prices.

Some are speculating that Fredriksen is hedging himself for a potential /International Seaways merger if the announced merger with Belgian Euronav falls short, the Saverys family gets their way, and the merger does not happen.
