The Turkish shipyard Sanmar announced the successful delivery of a new Boğaçay-class tugboat to the Italian company Rimorchitori Napoletani, the concession holder for the related port service in the port of the Campanian capital.

The vessel, originally named BOĞAÇAY LXXX, has been renamed Gargano; it is a versatile, multi-purpose, diesel-powered tugboat (with main engines compliant with the Tier III standard), designed for demanding operations, including ship handling, coastal towing, escort and other tasks. Like others in the same series, it is based on the RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design, a Sanmar exclusive built by the Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd.

This delivery strengthens the profitable business relationship between the two companies, which began in 2017 with the delivery of the Sirapinar-class tugboat Vivara, a slightly smaller sister ship of the Boğacay series.
