The Nordic energy company Gasum and the Baltic company Elenger have signed a maritime cooperation agreement with FuelEU to supply the Tallink vessel MyStar.
In accordance with the new agreement, Gasum supplies Elenger with liquefied biomethane (bioLNG) from its Pori terminal. The Tallink vessel MyStar uses the bioLNG to generate compliance surpluses for Gasum’s FuelEU Maritime pool. The Tallink Group operates a total of 11 passenger and cargo vessels on routes between Estonia, Finland, and Sweden.

Thanks to this agreement with Elenger and Tallink, we can strengthen our FuelEU Maritime pool with a new vessel, thereby expanding our capacity to support our customers who need to comply with regulations. As the end of the year approaches, we are striving to the utmost to ensure the maximum possible regulatory compliance,” stated Jacob Granqvist, Vice President of the Maritime area at Gasum.
“Tallink is setting an example for other operators in the Baltic Sea. Tallink was one of the first to invest in new technologies and began using LNG in 2017. Elenger has supported them throughout this process by supplying and bunkering LNG to the vessels, and we are pleased to help them take the next step towards renewable bio-LNG,” added Margus Kaasik, CEO of AS Elenger Grupp.
