Georgia Ports Boosts Logistics Innovation

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Georgia Centre of Innovation for Logistics, with the aim of supporting the state of Georgia’s logistics industry, according to a joint statement.

The MoU will focus on economic development, research and education, with all three parties contributing in their own field.

The Georgia Institute of Technology, also known as Georgia Tech, is recognised as one of the leading research universities in the world and the Centre of Innovation for Logistics creates supply chain solutions for companies looking to invest and work in Georgia.

Speaking about the MoU, GPA Board Chairman Jimmy Allgood commented: “Georgia Tech’s Supply Chain & Logistics Institute has established logistics improvement partnerships in global trade hubs such as Rotterdam, Singapore, Shenzhen, and Panama.

“I am delighted to announce that for their first such agreement with a port authority in the Western Hemisphere, they have chosen an organization that is in their own state of Georgia.”

Georgia Tech President, G.P. Peterson, said: “I am delighted to announce that for their first such agreement with a port authority in the Western Hemisphere, they have chosen an organization that is in their own state of Georgia.”
