Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) has participated in a panel discussion on port fuel diversification and the viability of multi-fuel at the Global Maritime Decarbonisation Summit 2026.

John Ghio, CEO and Captain of the Port at GPA, represented the authority during the session, which was titled ‘Port Fuel Diversification – Multi-Fuel Viability.’

The panel brought together industry leaders to discuss the practical realities of supporting alternative marine fuels, port readiness and the future of sustainable shipping.

GPA stated that Gibraltar remains committed to innovation, operational resilience and future-focused maritime solutions as the fuel transition continues to develop.

The summit brought together industry participants to discuss the ongoing shift in marine fuel infrastructure and supply chains as the maritime sector works towards decarbonisation targets.

Port authorities globally are examining their infrastructure requirements to accommodate a range of alternative fuels, including methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen, alongside traditional marine fuels and LNG.
