On June 23, the world’s first 100,000-ton salmon farming vessel “Suhai No. 1” commenced the first batch of commercial fish harvesting operations in the waters off Weihai, Shandong. “Suhai No. 1” officially entered production and operation at the end of 2025. The first batch of fry, after land-based rearing, were boarded and raised in the natural deep-sea cold water environment of the vessel’s tanks until now.

“Suhai No. 1” is equipped with 15 closed aquaculture tanks, with an effective aquaculture water volume of 83,000 cubic meters. Through the vessel’s intelligent control system, it enables aquaculture environment monitoring, centralized automatic feeding, and integrated ship-shore management. The vessel’s unique “roaming” production mode allows it to “follow the water temperature” while avoiding natural disaster risks such as typhoons and red tides.

To lock in freshness, “Suhai No. 1” adopts a “harvest on demand” fish removal model. Adult fish are slaughtered, pre-cooled, and packaged in the on-board primary processing center, then transported by fish carrier to shore-based factories for deep processing. The product forms are suitable for various consumption scenarios.

Relying on the “shore-sea linkage, land-sea coordination” model, “Suhai No. 1” deeply integrates ship engineering, intelligent equipment, and aquaculture, accumulating valuable experience for domestic fishery technological innovation and high-quality development.
