The company increases loading capacity to strengthen one of the most strategic connections in the Mediterranean
Genoa – Gnv, the Msc group’s ferry company, is strengthening its service on the Naples-Palermo route by introducing two evening departures with differentiated times for five days a week, guaranteed by two ships departing from Palermo to Naples and vice versa. The new schedule allows for more effective service to different customer segments and meets the multiple mobility needs of passengers and freight for the entire winter season and in view of the summer of 2026.
From November 25, the service was therefore strengthened, increasing from 3300 linear meters to 4700 linear meters of availability with Gnv Splendid and Gnv Auriga, to which Golden Carrier (on temporary charter) was added. Starting next December 19, with the further addition of Gnv Sirio, the number of ships in service will rise from 3 to 4, reaching a total of over 6000 linear meters at full capacity, for an overall strengthening of the loading capacity on the route between the Campanian and Sicilian regional capitals.
Recent bookings have already shown a clear increase compared to the same period last year, demonstrating the strong interest of passengers and freight operators in this connection.
The Naples-Palermo route continues, in fact, to support essential production chains, facilitating exchanges between Campania, Sicily, and the rest of Italy.
“We are very pleased to be able to strengthen the Naples-Palermo route, a historic and strategic line for our network. The increase in loading capacity and the two evening departures for five days a week allow us to respond even better to a strongly growing market demand, both for passengers and freight,” said Matteo Della Valle, chief commercial officer of Gnv.
