The Ministry of Construction of Vietnam issued the decision announcing the opening of the Tan Cang-Moc Bai Inland Port, located in the border economic zone in Tay Ninh province, an investment by Tan Cang-Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company.
The facility will operate to provide cargo handling, logistics, and customs procedure services, in accordance with a 2017 Government resolution on the investment, construction, management, and operation of inland ports, as well as in accordance with the Investment Certificate and the Business Registration Certificate issued by the competent authorities.
The opening ceremony for the Tan Cang-Moc Bai Inland Port depot was held on December 25, 2024, but the Ministry of Construction required that Tan Cang-Tay Ninh JSC fully comply with its responsibilities and obligations as a port operator to run the site, according to each investment phase, and to ensure safety, security, fire and explosion prevention, and environmental protection.
The Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration are assigned to inspect and supervise the operation of the Tan Cang-Moc Bai Inland Port. The company, a member of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), covers an area of approximately 16.52 hectares with a total investment capital of over USD 21 million.
The construction of the project, which began in November 2023, has already completed Phase 1, enabling the customs clearance, storage, consolidation, and transshipment of import and export containers directly at the border. The operation of the inland port will significantly shorten customs clearance time, reduce congestion at the Moc Bai international border gate, and optimize logistics costs for businesses.
Saigon Newport Corporation has invested in TCMB with a synchronized infrastructure system including container yards, CFS warehouses, vehicle storage areas, rubber-tired gantry cranes, forklifts, and modern trailers.
The port has the capacity to receive and manage large volumes of cargo from Cambodia and is directly connected to the Ho Chi Minh City port system and the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port cluster, forming a cross-border logistics corridor for the southeastern region.
Strategically located on the East-West Economic Corridor, the Tan Cang-Moc Bai Inland Port is expected to become a key border logistics hub between Vietnam and Cambodia, contributing to the development of the Moc Bai Border Economic Zone and promoting trade, services, and investment in the border region in the coming years.
