Introduces innovations for the debureaucratization of maritime transport

Rome – Shipowners’ associations welcome with satisfaction the approval by the Chamber of the Simplifications Bill which introduces innovations for the simplification and debureaucratization of maritime transport. “These are zero-cost measures for the State’s coffers, which are however very important for shipping companies and for maritime work. As is known, the Italian flag has been in crisis for several years and not in favor of flags of convenience from some tax haven, but to the advantage of Community registers that offer a lean and completely digitized bureaucratic apparatus. This approval is a significant step forward for our country in this sense” comments Stefano Messina, president of Assarmatori. But he adds that there is still more to be done: “The work of debureaucratizing the administrative apparatus that regulates maritime transport in Italy must proceed without delay.”
Positive comments also from Confitarma. “The simplification and digitalization of maritime work are essential conditions to support the competitiveness of the national shipping industry – says the president of Confitarma Mario Zanetti – Parliament has given an important signal, listening to the needs of our industry and giving long-awaited answers. It is a step forward that enhances the professionalism of Italian seafarers and offers more modern tools to our companies.”
