The post-diploma advanced training course, lasting two years, is completely free for participants

The Italian Academy of the Merchant Marine, in partnership with the Grimaldi Group, announces two orientation events on board dedicated to young graduates and future students interested in pursuing a career in passenger transport. The appointments will be held on Monday, May 18th at the Port of Livorno Darsena Toscana and on Friday, May 22nd at the Port of Naples (entrance Varco Immacolatella), on board stationary Grimaldi ships, from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

The two events are born with a precise objective, namely to introduce students and young graduates from Tuscany and Campania to the ITS Ship Purser course, a completely free two-year program created by the Academy in collaboration with the Grimaldi Group, and to present the concrete employment opportunities that the maritime passenger transport sector offers today to those who choose to train with the right tools. Both orientation events will be held directly on board the Grimaldi ships docked in the respective ports: a unique opportunity to experience the work environment first-hand, meet industry professionals, and discover up close what it means to work on a passenger ship. Former students of the ITS Ship Purser course who are already embarked with the Grimaldi Group will also participate in the meetings, bringing their direct testimony: the most effective way to tell those approaching this world for the first time what it concretely means to turn training into a career. To board the Grimaldi ships, it will be necessary to fill out this form and bring a valid identity document.

The ITS course for Senior Technician Ship Purser is a post-diploma advanced training course lasting two years, completely free for participants and financed through public resources from the Ministry of Education and Merit. The program trains professional figures capable of managing the entire administrative, commercial, and guest support dimension on board passenger ships: from supervising hotel departments to managing passenger services, from cabin crew administration to the ship’s economic reporting. The course includes the mandatory STCW certifications for seafaring personnel (Basic Safety Training, Crowd and Crisis Management, Security Awareness) and provides for a significant period of training on board where students work alongside the crew in the daily management of services, during which they receive a regular salary as an assistant purser, according to the CCNL, as they are regularly embarked.

Training that combines technical, managerial, and relational skills, designed to meet the demands of a strongly growing market. Maritime passenger transport is undergoing an expansion phase that requires an increasing contribution of qualified personnel. Shipping companies like those of the Grimaldi Group, among the main European operators in the Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax segment, seek figures capable not only of performing technical tasks on board but of professionally managing the guest experience, ensuring high service standards on international routes. The Ship Purser is one of these figures: a professional with high managerial value, whose training requires a specific and structured path that cannot be improvised.
