On January 18, reporters learned from the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration that Hainan has launched an intelligent assessment system in the crew competency evaluation examinations, promoting the digital and standardized transformation of crew examination work.
According to the introduction, this intelligent assessment system is for the “Use of Navigation Instruments” item in the ship driver evaluation examination. The first batch of 40 candidates have successfully completed the exam. The system relies on sensors to collect and record candidates’ operational behaviors in real-time and uses intelligent algorithms to evaluate and judge the operational results. It compresses the workload that traditionally required three assessors working continuously for two workdays down to what one assessor can complete in one hour, improving efficiency by over 95%. This not only enhances the efficiency of crew practical skill assessments but also technically resolves human assessment bias, ensuring objective and fair evaluation results. Simultaneously, it provides precise data support for training institutions to optimize their teaching.
Relevant officials from the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration Crew Examination Center stated that they will continue to optimize the performance of the intelligent assessment system and expand its coverage to more crew assessment examination subjects. Through the construction of “Smart Ship Examinations,” they aim to continuously improve the management level of crew training and examinations, providing solid support for building a high-quality crew team for the Hainan Free Trade Port.
