On July 10 at 10:18 AM, the 436TEU coastal open-top container vessel (Hull No. NJZ1250) by Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. commenced construction with the ignition ceremony at Workshop 203 of the Block Manufacturing Department.
The 436TEU coastal open-top container vessel features a twin-stern and vertical stem design, equipped with a twin-engine, twin-propeller propulsion system powered by two diesel engines, each rated at 1000 kW and a specified RPM. This power configuration aligns with the vessel’s operational requirements. The ship adopts a single-deck, open cargo hold layout, with the cargo area constructed as a double-bottom, double-side, longitudinal-framed, all-welded steel structure, ensuring robust and reliable hull performance. The vessel has an overall length of 105.6 meters, a beam of 18.8 meters, a depth of 8.6 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 103.2 meters, and a designed draft of 5.35 meters.
The commencement of the 436TEU coastal open-top container vessel marks a solid step for Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry in expanding its specialized and new energy vessel product line from river to sea, laying a strong foundation for future business growth and enhanced industry competitiveness. The company will meticulously advance construction preparations, guided by lean management principles, leveraging smart equipment, efficient welding, and other modern shipbuilding techniques to deliver superior products to customers.
It is reported that Jiangxi Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. was established on March 31, 2023, with a registered capital of 50 million yuan, and began operations by the end of November the same year. Its predecessor, Jiangxi Jiangzhou United Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., originated from the state-owned Jiangzhou Shipyard (Factory 6214), founded in 1969. The primary investors in Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry are Qinshi Group Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Yangchuan Investment Development Co., Ltd. Qinshi Group is the controlling parent company of the listed firm Tianhai Integration Defense Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., while Jiangsu Yangchuan Investment is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group. Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry focuses on the small and medium-sized vessel market, specializing in the construction of liquid cargo ships, feeder container bulk carriers, and multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels.
On June 10, Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry’s major shareholders, Qinshi Group and Jiangsu Xinyangchuan Maritime, signed an agreement with the Ruichang Municipal Government for a new energy vessel manufacturing project. The project, with a total investment of 1 billion yuan, will primarily produce new energy vessels and specialized ships. Upon reaching full capacity, the facility is expected to launch 24 specialized and new energy vessels annually, generating an annual output value of approximately 500 million yuan and tax revenue of around 50 million yuan.
As of now, Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry holds orders totaling 3.6 billion yuan. In the first half of the year, it delivered two high-end chemical tankers, with eight other vessels currently undergoing material cutting, block processing, block assembly, and hull erection.
