The Chilean Ministry of the Environment recognized port terminals of Hanseatic Global Terminals Latin America and its Inland Services division for their work in measuring, managing, and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as part of the HuellaChile program.

“These certifications reflect a sustained effort to incorporate sustainability into the management of our diverse operations. Each one is committed to advancing towards low-carbon logistics, and it is a challenge we take on as part of our daily work. This program allows us to measure our progress and set new goals,” said the company’s VP Sustainability & Communications, María Cristina Schmidt.

In this edition, Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI), Antofagasta Terminal Internacional (ATI), and San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI) received the Quantification and Reduction Seal. For its part, San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI) obtained the Quantification and Reduction Seal and, for the second consecutive year, the Excellence Seal, a recognition that distinguishes organizations that demonstrate sustained management over time.

Finally, Portuaria Corral was recognized with the Quantification Seal for formally measuring and reporting its GHG emissions, while Inland Services received the quantification and reduction seal for its operations.

Currently, various initiatives are being promoted aimed at energy efficiency, fuel use control, replacement with more efficient equipment, and the use of renewable energy, aligned with climate goals and international sustainability standards.

The HuellaChile program, driven by the Ministry of the Environment, promotes the calculation, reporting, and management of GHG in public and private sector organizations. It also provides tools that facilitate the measurement and calculation of the carbon footprint.
