Heerema Marine Contractors are close to putting new monopile lifting tools into service, as it has taken delivery of new equipment after two years of intense work. The company has taken delivery of tip monopile lifting tools (MTLT) and a top monopile lifting tool (/FMUT).
The tools have been designed, fabricated and load-tested under DNV rules and regulations by F.lli Righini Srl, Chris de Ruiter, Manager Non Floating Equipment at Heerema Marine Contractors (Specialist Offshore Installation Equipment), said in a brief social media post.
The equipment will enable Heerema to upend and install monopiles by using two cranes.

Tools are equipped with special features such as circular design to make them suitable to be used for flanged and non-flanged monopiles with various ranges of diameters and weights.
“It’s obvious this is a major milestone in the offshore wind,” de Ruiter said.
Tools are currently in transit, being transported by a Roll Group’s vessel. According to de Ruiter, the tools will be first deployed onboard Heerema’s semi-submersible crane vessel Thialf at the EnBW He Dreiht Wind project. The vessel will install 64 non-flanged monopiles.
