Maritime intelligence company Windward reports that following President Trump’s declaration on June 22 that the Strait was open, 21 AIS-visible transits were recorded on June 23 (pictured).

The centre corridor returned to use in both directions for the first time since the conflict began, with a South Korea-flagged container ship and a Liberia-flagged VLCC among the outbound contacts.

Windward assesses the Strait as entering early-stage normalisation, but not yet fully open.

Three Iran-flagged VLCCs loaded approximately 4.89 million barrels of crude at Kharg Island between June 20–22, all destined for China and assessed as transiting the Strait on June 22–23, with a fourth dark VLCC departing laden with approximately 2 million barrels.

Vortexa data confirms the week ending June 21 as Iran’s peak export week in nearly two months.
