On July 3, Hudong-Zhonghua and the China Classification Society (CCS) held a signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation agreement. CCS President Zhao Yan, along with leaders from the International Ship Survey Business Operations Center, Shanghai Rules and Research Institute, and Shanghai Branch, attended the event. Representing Hudong-Zhonghua were Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager Weng Hongbing, Chief Engineer Song Wei, and heads of departments including the Technology Center, Science & Technology and Information Department, and Quality Assurance Department.
The newly signed strategic agreement covers extensive areas of collaboration. The two parties will establish comprehensive cooperation across twelve key fields, including technical standards, ship design R&D and certification, smart shipping technologies, intelligent manufacturing, and technical collaboration in the LNG industry chain. This partnership aims to combine strengths and complementary advantages for mutual development.
Zhao Yan stated that CCS highly values its strategic partnership with Hudong-Zhonghua. The comprehensive cooperation across twelve domains reflects an inevitable choice for high-quality development. CCS will leverage its strengths in ship classification surveys, technical standard development, global service networks, and R&D innovation to integrate deeply with Hudong-Zhonghua’s outstanding R&D capabilities and industry insights. Together, they will drive technological progress, standards upgrades, and safe, green development in the industry, contributing core strengths to the prosperity of China’s and the global maritime and energy sectors.
Weng Hongbing emphasized that the strategic collaboration with CCS stems from both parties’ shared understanding of national economic development goals and core strategies. He expressed expectations that this all-encompassing, in-depth cooperation will not only consolidate leadership in traditional strengths but also achieve breakthroughs in future-oriented fields such as smart shipping, green and low-carbon transformation, the full LNG industry chain, and high-end manufacturing. Together, they aim to set a benchmark for serving national strategic needs.
Hudong-Zhonghua and CCS have previously collaborated extensively on projects like the 174,000 m³ LNG carriers and ultra-large container ships. The successful signing of this strategic agreement marks a new phase where both parties will unleash strong innovation momentum and generate significant cooperative benefits. This partnership will inject robust momentum into their leapfrog development and set an exemplary model for the high-quality growth and enhanced competitiveness of China’s marine equipment manufacturing industry.
