The units, ready for green methanol, will be delivered between 2026 and 2027
Copenhagen – Danish IceChem Tankers has announced that its partners Tb Marine and Ektank have signed contracts for the construction of four new 22,000 dwt chemical tankers, equipped with “marine line” coating and ice class 1A, designed to operate with maximum efficiency on North Atlantic routes.
The first delivery is scheduled for autumn 2026, followed by a quarterly cadence until summer 2027. The company specified that the vessels will be highly fuel-efficient and prepared for the use of green methanol as soon as an adequate bunkering network for this type of unit becomes available.
Founded in 2018 to manage the partners’ ships in a commercial pool, IceChem Tankers started with a fleet of ten chemical tankers between 15,000 and 25,000 dwt, all coated and ice class. It currently has 12 ships between 16,878 and 20,528 dwt. The latest addition was the MH Shogun, built in 2025 and flying the Marshall Islands flag.
