The Port Authority of Castellón, within the framework of its sustainability and decarbonization strategy, has begun the execution of the project to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure in its parking lots.

This action is part of the Moves III-Infraestructuras Comunidad Valenciana program, promoted by the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (Ivace) through the European Recovery Fund Next Generation EU, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) driven by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

The project has a total investment of USD 160 thousand, of which USD 111,500 correspond to granted public funding. Its main objective is to provide the port facility with advanced energy infrastructure that promotes electric mobility as a sustainable alternative for port users and workers.

The execution was awarded to the company Crisol Obras y Servicios, with a contractual amount of USD 120 thousand. The works are already underway and include the implementation of 10 SAVE semi-fast charging points of 22 kW in alternating current, with the capacity for the simultaneous charging of up to 10 electric vehicles, as well as the installation of a 100 kW fast charging station in direct current, located outside the facility.

The commissioning of this infrastructure will allow for an estimated reduction of 520 tCO2eq (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent) per year derived from road transport, contributing to the fulfillment of the decarbonization, energy efficiency, and transition to clean energy objectives in the port environment.
