2025 has not developed ideally for grain shipments -mainly for wheat-, with the total reduction of goods exceeding 10%.
However, soybeans are the only major grain commodity currently showing an increase in shipments compared to last year, according to a post by AXSMarine on social media. More specifically, since January, soybean shipments have totaled more than 122 million metric tons, showing a 4.1% increase on an annual basis.
In fact, during the first nine months of 2025, soybeans took first place among grains, while traditionally it ranks behind wheat and corn. As the aforementioned post shows, Supramaxes are the vessel with the most soybean shipments this year.
