Stevedoring company ILS has made a new wage offer to employees who are on strike over a collective labor agreement.
According to the company, workers would receive a total pay increase of 20 percent over three years if they accept the proposal. ILS said it wants to end the dispute and prevent new strikes.
The company stated that wages for stevedores could rise by 5.58 percent this year, by 6.7 percent in 2026, and by an additional 4 percent in 2027.
Part of the increase is meant to compensate for inflation, which the company noted is common practice in the port.
Work at ILS and at Matrans has been halted since Wednesday.
A court has ordered the strikers to return to work on Monday morning to clear the backlog while unions and employers continue negotiations. The workers would be allowed to resume the strike starting Friday.
Stevedores are responsible for securing containers on departing ships and releasing them from arriving vessels.
ILS is a stevedoring company operating in the Port of Rotterdam, the largest seaport in Europe. It provides cargo handling services, including loading and unloading containers on sea-going vessels.
Matrans is a logistics and stevedoring company also based in the Port of Rotterdam. It specializes in terminal operations and container handling services for maritime transport companies.
