The International Maritime Organization will hold a technical seminar in London on 12 May covering methane-based fuels, including LNG, biomethane and e-methane, according to the IMO Future Fuels and Technology Project.

The hybrid event, held at IMO headquarters and on the IMO YouTube channel, is aimed at technical developments in production, safe use and blending of methane-based fuels for shipping.

The programme includes sessions on methane emissions across the LNG value chain, e-NG and e-LNG production trends, LNG ship emissions, bio-LNG scaling, biomethane supply, bunkering practice, methane abatement and dual-fuel engine technology.

Speakers are listed from the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative, e-NG Coalition, International Council on Clean Transportation, World Biogas Association, Brazil Biogas Association, American Biogas Council, Shell, SEA-LNG, Lloyd’s Register and WinGD.

The International Maritime Organization is the United Nations specialised agency responsible for global maritime safety, security and pollution-prevention regulation.
