During the afternoon hours of 27/6, the Port Authority of Alonissos imposed administrative sanctions on the Master of the tanker (D/X) “YM JUPITER” under the flag of Malta.

Specifically, the said vessel with a crew of 17 Turkish nationals suffered a mechanical failure in the sea area southeast of the islet of Psathoura, without the Master immediately informing, as he was obliged, the competent Port Authority regarding the incident.

The tanker YM JUPITER had sailed from the port of Aspropyrgos bound for the port of Thessaloniki, laden with the chemical MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether).

According to the latest information, the vessel was towed to a port in Turkey.
