The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has shared pictures (below) of it welcoming the Ocean Network Express’ first magenta container ship, the ONE Stork, to the Port of Savannah on July 27 2018.

Its maiden voyage journey has also taken it to the Port of New York and New Jersey.

The 14,026 TEU Stork, which met five cranes at the 1,200-acre Garden City Terminal, had 4,000 containers moved on and off the ship, with 3,432 for export and 655 for import.

Griff Lynch, GPA Executive Director, commented on the visit: “It’s an honour to welcome this distinctive ship to the Port of Savannah.

“Vessels in the 14,000-plus range represent the future of global shipping, and play to Savannah’s strengths of space, infrastructure and cargo fluidity.”

The vessel is the first to visit Savannah featuring ONE Line’s distinctive magenta colour, and Jeremy Nixon, CEO of the ONE alliance, spoke about why this aesthetic is so important: “Magenta is very symbolic of our new company’s independent and innovative approach to global container shipping.

“Magenta, we also hope, will improve safety, and make the ONE Stork, and her sister-ships, much more visible to all the many other vessels that may pass her in close proximity over the course of her full trading life.”
