Cruise passengers down -15.3%
In the period April-June 2026, freight traffic in the
port of Venice has suffered a slight decrease due to the
modest reduction in the volumes of miscellaneous goods and a more
marked decline in liquid bulk cargo. Globally, there have been
6.32 million tons handled, with a decrease of -1.2%
in the second half of 2025, of which 5.14 million tonnes of
goods on landing (-2.3%) and 1.27 million tons on loading
(+4,0%).
Total miscellaneous goods amounted to 2.58 million
tons (-1.6%), with only one containerized traffic that
marked a growth of +4.0% rising to 1.42 million tons
with container handling of 132,718 TEUs (+3.5%),
while rolling stock and other miscellaneous goods decreased by going down
respectively to 610 thousand tons (-5.3%) and 546 thousand tons
(-10,1%). In the liquid bulk sector, the overall figure is
state of 1.56 million tonnes (-12.9%), of which 1.31 million tonnes
tons of refined petroleum products (-7.6%), 185 thousand
tons of chemicals (-35.6%) and 67 thousand tons of other
liquid bulk (-24.5%). Dry bulk was 2.18
million tons (+9.8%), including 640 thousand tons of
minerals (+0.9%), 546 thousand tons of metallurgical products
(+31.8%), 508 thousand tons of feed, fodder and oilseeds
(+16.0%), 190 thousand tons of cereals (+94.0%), 139 thousand tons
of coal (-19.6%), 38 thousand tons of chemicals (-49.8%)
and 115 thousand tons of other dry bulk (-22.7%).

There were 19 thousand ferries (-5.4%) and 193 thousand cruise passengers
(-15.3%), of which 179 thousand on /embarkation (-12.7%) and 14 thousand on disembarkation
transit (-38.4%).
In the first six months of 2026, total freight traffic was
remained stable having been 12.28 million tons, of which
4.12 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo, an increase of
+8.5% on the first half of 2025, 3.10 million tons
of liquid bulk (-11.0%), 2.82 million tons of cargo
containerized (+8.4%) with a container handling of
264,069 TEUs (+4.6%), 1.19 million tonnes of rolling stock (-3.5%)
and 1.06 million tons of other miscellaneous goods (-7.8%).

and ferry traffic, which was the result of

port (-10.9%) and 15 thousand in transit (-33.7%).
In the first six months of 2026, the port of Chioggia, also
part of the jurisdiction of the Port System Authority
of the Northern Adriatic Sea, handled 470 thousand tons
of goods (+14.0%), of which 226 thousand tons of dry bulk cargo
(-5.9%) and 244 thousand tons of miscellaneous goods (+42.0%).
