Injury of passenger on /P ship in Heraklion – Discovery of weapon in the sea in Kavala – Discovery of ammunition in Corinth – Disembarkation of patient from K/Z ship in Pylos

During the midday hours yesterday, the Port Authority of Heraklion was informed of the injury of a 70-year-old foreign female passenger (French national) on a professional pleasure craft which had docked at the port of Heraklion.

Specifically, the 70-year-old was injured in her right lower limb during the process of disembarking from the vessel. The injured woman was picked up by an EKAB ambulance vehicle and transported to the General Hospital “VENIZELEIO PANANEIO” for further medical care. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Central Port Authority of Heraklion.

-During the midday hours yesterday, the Port Authority of Kavala was informed of the discovery of a weapon by a private individual, on the seabed of a rocky point in the sea area near the breakwater of “ICHTHYOSKALA” Kavala. A private diver went to the scene to assist in checking the wider area for any additional findings. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Central Port Authority of Kavala.

-During the midday hours yesterday, the Port Authority of Corinth was informed of the location of two hundred and forty-one (241) cartridges of various calibers and one old-type magazine, in the sea area “KATAKTAKTES” of Loutraki Corinthia. The cartridges and the magazine were recovered with the assistance of a private diver, while in a further search by members of the Underwater Missions Unit (M.Y.A.) of the H.C.G.-HELLENIC COAST GUARD, eight (08) additional cartridges of various calibers as well as one more old-type magazine were located and recovered. The items found were confiscated by the Port Authority of Corinth, which is conducting the preliminary investigation.

-During the afternoon hours yesterday, the Port Authority of Pylos was informed by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (J.R.C.C.) of the Headquarters of the H.C.G.-HELLENIC COAST GUARD that a 77-year-old foreign passenger (United Kingdom national) on a cruise ship (C/S) under Panama flag sailing in the sea area 21 n.m. southwest of Pylos was in need of immediate hospital care. The C/S approached Navarino Bay where the 77-year-old was picked up by the passenger-launch “SANTINO” N.P. 34 on which a member of the H.C.G.-HELLENIC COAST GUARD was aboard and was safely transported to the port of Pylos. The patient was initially transferred by an EKAB ambulance vehicle to the Pylos Health Center and subsequently to the General Hospital of Kalamata for medical care, while the vessel sailed to continue its itinerary.
