The installation of the structural beams for the Chacabuco Viaduct was recently completed, a task carried out by the Dirección de Vialidad of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP) and which is now over 70% complete, allowing the connection of the avenue of the same name with the Puente Bicentenario in Concepción.
The seremi of Obras Públicas, Hugo Cautivo, emphasized that the infrastructure “comes to consolidate a historic area, like Aurora de Chile, but it also contributes to the interventions we are making in conjunction with Calle Esmeralda with the projection of Parque Ecuador towards Avenida Costanera and, furthermore, with all that it means for connectivity in Gran Concepción.”
“This major investment we are making as a government comes to provide enormous services to the community, consolidating a historic area, like Aurora de Chile, but also contributing to city-building through these interventions we are carrying out in conjunction with Calle Esmeralda with the projection of Parque Ecuador towards Avenida Costanera,” he added.
With the incorporation of these beams, the structure is beginning to take its final shape, bringing us ever closer to the goal of delivering a modern, safe road solution that improves the connectivity of Gran Concepción.
Regarding the connection of the viaduct with the Puente Bicentenario, Cautivo added that “we are advancing towards pile 13, which symbolizes this final stage, with all the engineering challenge that means passing at height over the railway line and the coordination this also requires with the railway company to avoid interrupting all passenger and freight transport services.”
Regarding the deadlines for the delivery of the viaduct, the project is expected to be completed in December of this year, with the aim of it soon being in service for the community and contributing to the connectivity of Gran Concepción.
