Amid escalating Houthi attacks on maritime traffic, Israel urged the United States to resume strikes against the rebel group and to help form a broader international coalition, according to Israeli media on 10 July.

The renewed appeal comes in the wake of a ballistic missile launched toward Israel and two recent maritime attacks that killed at least four people and sank two bulk carriers.

Israeli officials stated that the persistent Houthi assaults on international shipping “can no longer remain solely an Israeli problem,” as reported by the Kan public broadcaster.

Furthermore, a source familiar with the discussions said Jerusalem is calling for “more intense combined attacks against Houthi regime targets, not just [Israeli] air force fighter jet strikes, but also a renewal of American attacks and the formation of a coalition including additional countries.”

As of the latest development, the search and rescue mission for crew members of the cargo ship Eternity C, which was attacked by Houthis on 7 July, was officially called off on 13 July, after the vessel’s owner decided to end the privately-run operation.
